Window Wiper Insight

Window Wiper Insight shows how your window wipers are being used and predicts when a unit is likely to fail. You can replace it on your own schedule instead of after it breaks.

How it works

Each window wiper reports its usage to the Acme connector on your network. The connector sends the data to Acme, where it is analysed to predict when each unit will fail.

What you see

Health score

A score from 0 to 100 for each wiper. Lower means more wear.

Predicted failure date

The estimated date the unit will need replacing.

Usage history

Wipe cycles, run time and motor load over time.

Replacement alerts

Email warnings before a unit reaches the end of its life.

Before you begin

• A connector shows as Connected. See Deploy the connector.
• Your window wipers can reach the connector host on TCP 8883 inside your network.
• You have the Admin or Operator role. See Users and roles.

Set up

1. Let the connector receive wiper reports

   Wipers send their reports to the connector on port 8883. Add this port to your connector settings:

   Docker Compose

   Add this line under ports in your docker-compose.yml:

   ports:
     - "127.0.0.1:8080:8080"
     - "8883:8883"

   Then restart the connector:

   docker compose up -d

   Docker run

   Add -p 8883:8883 to your docker run command and run it again.

2. Turn on the feature

   In the portal, go to Features > Window Wiper Insight and select Enable.

3. Add your wipers

   Select Add wipers, choose the connector that should receive their reports, and select Generate pairing code. Enter the pairing code on each wiper to link it to your organisation.

4. Check that data is arriving

   Each wiper shows as Reporting once its first report arrives. This usually takes a few minutes.

Learning period

Acme needs about 14 days of usage data from a wiper before it shows a predicted failure date. Until then, the wiper shows Learning.

Replacement alerts

Window Wiper Insight raises an alert when a wiper is getting close to the end of its life.

Status	Meaning	Default trigger
Healthy	No action needed.	More than 30 days until predicted failure
Replace soon	Plan a replacement.	30 days or fewer until predicted failure
Replace now	Replace as soon as you can.	7 days or fewer until predicted failure

To change who is notified or when:

1. Go to Features > Window Wiper Insight > Alerts.
2. Add the email addresses to notify.
3. Change the number of days for Replace soon and Replace now if you need to.
4. Select Save.

Tip

Set Replace soon to match how long it takes you to get a replacement unit. If parts take 3 weeks to arrive, use 30 days or more.

After you replace a wiper

1. In the portal, open the wiper and select Mark as replaced.
2. Pair the new unit using a new pairing code.

The old wiper’s history is kept for reporting. The new unit starts a fresh learning period.
